Midsummer Day, also known as Banapis, marks the end of one year and the beginning of the next. Typically, everyone measures their age by the number of Midsummer Day's they have celebrated, advancing their age one year forward with each celebration of Midsummer Day. Midsummer Day is considered outside of the typical calender months or years, a day on it's own. Midsummer Festival is the celebration of Midsummer Day. Town celebrations are common to celebrate the occasion. On their 14th Midsummer Day, many boys take part in The Choosing, where they are selected by various craftmasters to learn a respective craft.
