Ban-ath also called Kalkin, Coyote, Dav-Lu and a multitude of other names is a Lesser God and the God of Thieves and Pirates. He is also known as the walker in the night, the prankster, and the God of Lost causes and hopeless quests.

Ban-ath also called Kalkin, Coyote, Dav-Lu and a multitude of other names his the God of Thieves, and Pirates. He is also known as the walker in the night, the prankster and the God of Lost causes and hopeless quests. During the [[Chaos Wars]] he noticed that the Gods where losing the war and he put in place a plan so that a war being lost could be a war postponed. It was he who infused [[Ashen-Shugar]]'s armour with his spirit creating the link between [[Tomas]] and Ashen Sugar. It was also he who aided [[Pug]] by sending notes in [[Pug]]'s handwriting thinking they where from the furture so that Pug would do certain things and help win major wars such as the [[Darkwar]]. When asked by Pug why he did this all Ban-ath said was "Who better than me, the one who can breaks all the rules and do what needs to be done"

He even went so far as to reach through the barriers of reality and manipulate the second realm in order to win the Darkwar.
 
==Aiding Pug in Various Ways==
 
In [[Exiles Return (novel)|Exiles Return]], he speaks to Kaspar about the Talnoy and shows him the Dasati and their barbaric nature, lifts the geass on Kaspar placed by the Talnoy and assists him in finding his way to the Conclave of Shadows and Pug.

Ban-ath appears to Pug at the end of [[Wrath of a Mad God (novel)|Wrath of a Mad God]] to provide Pug with some necessary information about the state of the universe and his role in saving Midkemia, he is asked by Pug why Ban-ath did all of this he said, "Who better than me, the one who can break all the rules and do what needs to be done" . Ban-ath reappears to Pug after Kelewan is destroyed to stop the Dreadlord posing as the Dasati God and admits that he was impressed by how Pug dealt with the situation and admits to secretly aiding [[Pug]] by sending him notes written in his own handwriting so that he would believe them to be from the future.

Ban-ath appears to Pug, Miranda, Nakor and Magnus in [[Magician's End (novel)|Magician's End]] to stop the fragment of Macros from revealing information and to help Pug understand the [[Dread]] and what must be done. When Pug is near death, he along with the other gods offer him the chance to return to life after sealing the Dread, as it will return eventually. Pug refuses and requests Magnus be revived instead, Ban-ath accepts this decision and tells Pug that he was one of the most fascinating mortals he's met.
